What is a Noun? A noun is a word that refers to a thing (book), a person (Betty Crocker), an animal (cat), a place (Omaha), a quality (softness), an idea (justice), or an action (yodeling).

What is a Verb? A verb is the action or state of being in a sentence.

What is an Adjective? Adjectives are words that describe the qualities or states of being of nouns: enormous, silly, yellow, fun, fast.

What is an Idiom? An idiom is an expression that takes on a figurative meaning when certain words are combined, which is different from the literal definition of the individual words.

What is a phrasal verb? In English traditional grammar, a phrasal verb is the combination of two or three words from different grammatical categories – a verb and a particle, such as an adverb or a preposition – to form a single semantic unit on a lexical or syntactic level.

Define on your own words (in English) the following terms and expressions.
